Michael Carcamo, Nissan Global Motorsports Director, leads Nissan’s debut season in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, the all-electric street racing championship.

 

Nissan’s entry into the championship was announced at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2017, and now races in 12 city centers across the globe.

 

In addition to managing the Formula E programme Carcamo oversees activities including Super GT, IMSA, Blancpain GT Series Asia, and Canada’s Micra Cup.

 

Carcamo was appointed to his current role in 2016 – marking his return to motorsport. Before joining Nissan in 2002, Carcamo was a trackside engineer for Ilmor Engineering in C.A.R.T and IRL for five seasons.

 

Carcamo has held a variety of management roles for Nissan including Overseas Program Director, Americas, and Director of Corporate Planning, Mexico.

 

In R&D, his achievements include the launch of Nissan Sentra and Nissan Tiida as Program Manager as well as the Nissan March, Versa and Versa Note as assistant Chief Vehicle Engineer.

 

He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and is a certified Project Management Professional as well as a graduate of V-up (Nissan’s data-driven quality program). Carcamo has also completed executive programs at Vanderbilt University and IPADE graduate school in Mexico City.
