NISSAN TO INVEST 140 MILLION EUROS IN ITS AVILA FACTORY (Avila, 26 November, 2004) Today, Nissan has announced that it will invest 140 million euros in its Avila plant to produce a new range of commercial vehicles. The recent approval of the four-year collective agreement in the Avila plant has contributed to the decision of this new commercial project. The agreement includes important elements which will significantly improve productivity and flexibility on the manufacturing side. This project is an important commitment to the Avila factory and guarantees its current production activity in the mid-term while maintaining the same level of employment. This investment reconfirms Nissans commitment to growth and industrial enrichment of the Castilla and Leon Community. Nissan considers the production of commercial vehicles as one of the pillars of its global business. The production of the new commercial vehicle will start during the summer of 2006 with a forecasted production volume of 24,000 annual units. This represents an increase of more than 60% compared to existing volumes. This new range of commercial vehicles will replace the current production models. The design will be specifically tailored for the European market and will be exclusively produced at the Avila plant. Currently, 645 people work in the Nissan Avila plant. In 2003, 18,565 units were produced.12,681 Cabstar, and 5,884 Atléon. The forecast for this year is to produce 21,000 units: 14,700 Cabstar and 6,300 Atleón. Ends
